Definition
Civil Surgeon
A USCIS-designated doctor authorized to perform the immigration medical exam (Form I-693).
Civil surgeons complete the medical exam portion of the green card process for adjustment of status applicants. The completed Form I-693 is sealed and submitted to USCIS. For consular processing, a panel physician (not a civil surgeon) performs the exam abroad.
